Pre-Photoshoot Jitters

I'm going to give you a hypothetical situation than can take place the morning of a potential photoshoot with me:
It’s the morning of the shoot and you’re definitely running late. Your youngest child is screaming and the oldest somehow took their sock off without taking off their shoe? Not to mention I’ve just texted that I’m down the street and “will be there in a sec!”
You feel the panic entering your bloodstream, maybe this wasn’t a good idea you think to yourself, maybe I should cancel. If this has ever been your thought process when trying to get the kids ready for a day outside of (or even with) the daily routine, I want you to remember two words that have helped me so many times in all aspects of my life:
Deep breath.
I’m serious, even right now take a deep four second inhale. Now take a long eight second exhale. Now do it again. Once more. Great!
I want you to remember, you’ll be fine, the kids will be fine, and I’ll be fine. The first thing I’ll do when I come for the shoot is help us collectively calm our bodies, so we will be taking several deep breaths and get our pre-photoshoot jitters out.
I have learned so much while being a preschool teacher, and one of the things I’ve learned and observed is that kids absolutely know and can feel if the adults are stressed. The difference with them is that they internalize it and don’t know why they’re feeling such big negative emotions. I want to help, I’m there to help, and by writing these blog posts I hope I will help you and your family calm your bodies before and during the shoot, and most importantly, have fun in the midst of it!
I’ll now leave you with three words to help you today: You’ve got this!
